Burping after a meal at a table in America is a no-no but in other countries, it is acceptable and even a form of flattery. What could be impolite in the American setting is all right in other cultures and vice versa. It is important to know what are the dos and don’ts in different nations to avoid offending someone and making a bad first impression.
1. Blowing Your Nose
The North American culture is very particular with hygiene in public places thus blowing your nose is acceptable. But doing it in Eastern cultures such as India and Japan is seen as disgusting. In Southeast Asian countries, it is necessary to wear a medical facemask when sick as to not spread germs. Going around sick without wearing one is deemed uber rude.
