Onychectomy is the term used in declawing an animal’s claw. Declawing cats is more common in the United States and Canada but unheard of in other countries. In some parts of Los Angeles, the procedure is banned and is illegal in other countries including Australia.

Most veterinarians refuse to declaw cats unless it is medically necessary, aside from that, declawing cats in a big no-no. Keep this in mind especially when you visit Australia and find a cat or something along the line, you can never tell, declawing a cat will put you in prison or you’ll have to face a fine.
